I’m still working on Part 8 of the character series, which, as it turns out, is going to be another absurdly long one. I have written about half of it in a week, so I’m definitely going to need a few more days. But, on the plus side, I’m really excited about it because it’s going to be a stroll off the beaten track, so to speak, and I’m really looking forward to that.
Anyway, I didn’t want to leave you empty-handed this weekend, so I’m sending this post your way instead.
A lovely reader and regular commenter on this little blog had asked me a very astute question about the ‘Moby Dick’ reference we had discovered a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately, I can’t find the comment itself right now because it got buried under the avalanche of several hundred unanswered comments in my inbox, but I think there’s no harm in writing a whole post about this topic, instead of just a reply. My answer would have got far too long for a normal reply, anyway. And this way you can all read it, right? (By the way, I do apologize for being unable to reply to each and every one of your comments, in which you share your astute observations, additional information and your interesting conclusions with me. I hope you can forgive me.)
So, what’s up with that ‘Moby Dick’ reference and that Old Testament story ‘Young Royals’ cleverly hid in its subtext? And what do these two intertwined references tell us about Simon?
